So Po’s first Sunday Night Take-Homes

We had a small but wonderful meeting earlier this evening in the Auditorium at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship.  We met for a time of Kingdom Prayer for our community and to hear God’s Word be read and taught.  No flash, it didn’t take a ton of cash to put it on, it was real simple, and God met us there. Here are some take homes for this week.

Kingdom Prayer Focus

Some things to consider this week as we pray for God’s Kingdom to come into our Community.

In Antioch there is:

Extensive Gang Activity                  Sex Trafficking

Epidemic of Fatherlessness         40% of our area on W.I.C.

Failing School System                  Notable rise of Buddhism

Praying the Psalms Together

“A Psalm that we cannot utter as a prayer, that makes us falter and horrifies us, is a hint to us that here Someone else is praying, not we……….the Man Jesus Christ………..is praying in the Psalter through the mouth of His Church.  The Psalter is the Prayer Book of Jesus Christ in the truest sense of the word.  He prayed the Psalter and now it has become His prayer for all time.”

~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer ~

Simply lift this Psalm, word for word, as a community prayer this week during you daily quiet times, or whenever it comes to mind to do so.  A good practice would be to write it on a note card and place it in your car, or if your a techno junkie put it in your smart phone or ipod for easy access.

Psalm 2:7-12
I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me,
“You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
“Now therefore, O kings, be wise;be warned,
O rulers of the earth.Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Read through Jeremiah 1 for next Sunday Night
There is a forth coming article detailing the background material we covered tonight to get us ready to dive in to Jeremiah 1 next week.  Yes, it will be fairly long, but read it any way as it will make for a more profitable time together in the Lord’s Word next Sunday if you were not there, or it will serve to massage the truth into your soul if you were there.

A Good Word for you this week
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!
