We Believe The Nicene Creed
We ask all covenant members to affirm the Nicene Creed as an accurate summary of the historic Christian faith.
The Westminster Confession of Faith
Solomon’s Porch Christian Church is a historic Christian church. We believe the Westminster Confession of Faith 1647 is the best example of Christian doctrinal standards. Therefore, our teaching and ruling elders use it as the basis for their ministerial examinations, ordinations, and vows.
Baptism: We Are A Hybrid Congregation
Solomon’s Porch Christian Church is a congregation that practices both forms of baptism. The head of household’s conviction, if orthodox, determines our practice together.
First, the parents’ profession is examined by the elders for orthodoxy. Afterwards, we will baptize the infant children of believers (paedo-baptism) or believing persons from a household confessing Christ (credo-baptism).
Finally, we take a Romans 14 approach to Christian fellowship together. We believe the conscience is beholden to the Word of God and that there are orthodox men on both sides of the argument over baptism and other Christian practices like head covering, exclusive psalmody, Sabbath, etc.
Moreover, we believe faithful paedo and credo-baptists can become elders or deacons at SPCC. All take their ministerial vows to the Westminster Confession of Faith with a written request for an exception for credo-baptists. However, we do ask that they affirm a statement that SPCC Smyrna has pre-written for their subscription under our standards.
Occasional Testimonies
We believe the Christian Church must bear further witness. Thus, when moral and ethical dilemmas arise, we will issue white papers called Occasional Testimonies. Accordingly, after approval by the elders, they are published below, at which point they become a part of SPCC’s permanent or fixed testimony.
Occasional testimonies adopted by SPCC:
2. The Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel
3. The SPCC Public Testimony Against Abortion
4. SPCC Medical Religious Exemption
5. Man’s Duty To Protect Women
6. Christian Engagement with Art & Culture
