The Westminster Confession of Faith
Solomon’s Porch Christian Church is a historic reformed Christian church. We believe the Westminster Confession of Faith 1647 is the best example of reformed Christian doctrinal standards. Therefore, our teaching and ruling elders use it as the basis for their ministerial examinations, ordinations, and vows.
Baptism: We Are a Hybrid Congregation
Solomon’s Porch Christian Community is a congregation that practices both forms of baptism. The head of household’s conviction, if orthodox, determines our practice together. First, the parents profession is examined by the elders for orthodoxy. Afterwards, we will baptize the infant children of believers (paedo-baptism) or believing persons from a household confess Christ. (credo-baptism). Finally, we take a Romans 14 approach to Christian fellowship together. We believe the conscience is beholden to the Word of God and that there are orthodox men on both sides of the argument.
Moreover, we believe faithful credo-baptists can become elders or deacons at SPCC. They can take their ministerial vows to the Westminster Confession of Faith with a written request for an exception. However, we do ask that they affirm a pre-statement that SPCC Smyrna has pre-written for their subscription under our standards.
We Believe the Nicene Creed
Further, you can be a member of SPCC and not subscribe to all the tenets of the reformation era church. We ask all covenant members to affirm the Nicene Creed as an accurate summary of the historic Christian faith.
Occasional Testimonies
We believe the Christian Church must bear further witness. Thus, when moral and ethical dilemmas arise we will emit white papers called “Occasional Testimonies.” Accordingly, after approval by the elders they are published below them, at which point they become a part of SPCC’s permanent testimony.
