Standing In The Gap For Others

Prayer
Christ has brought us near, so let us live near.

Making that Monday Prayer List

Each week I encourage you all to “Stand In The Gap” for others by keeping and praying over a regular Intercessory Prayer list. The term “Stand in the Gap” comes from an event during the time of the prophet Ezekiel.

29 The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and have extorted from the sojourner without justice. 30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.31 Therefore I have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned their way upon their heads, declares the Lord God (Ezekiel 22:29-30).”

One of the focuses of the Reformation that emanated out of Martin Luther’s camp more than any other was the doctrine that Christ Jesus has made us all priests and kings to God (1 Peter 2:9). It travels broadly under the name “Priesthood of all Believers.” We are those privileged to stand before the Lord and minister.

The Privilege of Priesthood

Engage in that privilege. Stand before the Lord and minister. Offer the sacrifice of praise. Lift up prayer as incense to the Lord. When you are standing before the Lord (kneeling in prayer so we are clear) offering yourself as a living sacrifice don’t forget to offer the incense of prayer for others. Seek Salvation. Seek their good. Put a magistrate on there, or a neglected child from your neighborhood, or an almost forgotten missionary. Keep an Intercessory Prayer list.

If you get a chance folks go over to the Facebook page and hit the like button on a sermon or two or a blog or two. It’ll help move our content out into the ether sphere.
