Who is Solomon’s Porch Christian Community?

We are a reformed church that was founded in Smyrna, TN in November of 2016. We focus on making disciples of Jesus Christ in the pattern established by Christ and His Apostles in the Scriptures.

When and Where?

What does Sunday morning look like? 

We use Four T’s (Truth, Together, Table, Throne) to describe our regular Lord’s Day worship gathering. These are the same four things that the early church devoted themselves to in Acts 2:42 where it says, “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching (Truth) and the fellowship (Together), to the breaking of bread (Table) and the prayers (Throne).”

This passage guides our congregational worship. When we gather on the Lord’s Day we first spend time learning “Truth” from the sacred Scriptures.  Then we confess our sins privately and our faith (the Nicene Creed) publicly. This is followed by taking the Lord’s Table “Together” as a response to the Word that has been preached. After our Lord’s Day worship we share a common meal 3x a month that everyone contributes to, “Table.” We close with the singing of hymns, prayer, and godly conversations around the “Throne” of God together.

We want our worship to reflect the multigenerational faithfulness we desire to develop in our individual families, and that we see on the pages of Scripture. Therefore, as a practice we choose to include our children in our Lord’s Day worship gatherings.

Deuteronomy 29:9-13

Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. “You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and the sojourner who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the Lord your God, which the Lord your God is making with you today, that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;

We are pretty sure it was noisy and distracting on the plains of Moab that day, but it was also sacred, and sometimes there are more important things than perfect order and efficiency. Children are very welcomed.
